I went painting in 15 degree weather a couple of weeks ago. I can't overdo the warm clothes: wore a long down coat, ski pants, battery-operated heated socks, snow mobile boots, hat and gloves (with latex gloves underneath). Yes, I looked funny.
I like your tips on the hand warmers and the dark blanket. I forgot to bring an umbrella and fell into the trap of constricted pupils from glare, which resulted in washed out paintings when I brought them inside. Easy enough to fix but I'd rather get it right the first time. Umbrella and dark blanket next time!
